Carving our Pumpkins

Miles was so excited to carve pumpkins.  I picked him up from school and that's the first thing he said. " I am so excited that we are carving pumpkins for FHE."
Okay, so none of the boys wanted to touch the "guts".  Miles used a spoon the whole time.
Quincy was our "courageous" boy this time.  He wanted to wash hands as soon as it was done!
And Porter would have nothing to do with the "Ewwwww..."
Here are the boys in front of the finished products!  Miles did the smiley face, Quincy did the scary face (he will be the head of our scary man to sit on the porch on Halloween), I did stars, and Allen did the Jordan logo.  Of course we had to have that one!

Courage Month: missionary week

We are still on our "courage" month and I am really proud of all that has happened.  The boys are learning a lot and we have lots of talks about what they did that day that was courageous.  We have talked to Daniel and Moses (visits to our house....lucky aren't we)heehee and this week we focused on being missionaries and how that takes courage.  We talked about Ammon and Samuel and how they were courageous.  We talked about how the boys can be missionaries now and also prepare for their future missions.  They loved getting their very own pretend missionary name tags.  Quincy already has his on his shirt for church on Sunday.  He is really soaking in these values we have been working on.  I am really pleased, and the boys are having fun and learning!  Yipee!

I want to be a missionary now, mom!

Fall break and the pumpkin patch!

We had a wonderful fall break.  We stayed home and just relaxed.
I absolutely love having trees in our new yard.  The boys have really enjoyed playing in the leaves.  It's so beautiful!
We took the boys to the South Ridge Farms in Santaquin for pumpkin picking.  The boys had tons of fun picking their own pumpkins.  Porter could've run around in the fields forever!  You show up at the red barn and they take you in a wagon to where the pumpkins are.  We had lots of fun.

Our latest FAVs!

PORTER
He's into pumpkins and getting the Sports Illustrated magazines in the mail.
Oh yeah....and getting into mom's drawer in her bathroom.  this lipstick has finally died.  Don't be too impressed that he knew where that lipstick went (lips) because believe me, the pic didn't do his artwork justice.

MILES
Miles is all about baseball.  He wants to constantly play ball with us in the back yard or watch the games on TV.  The Rockies have been his favorite and he cried when they lost!

QUINCY
Quincy is our collage maniac!  He can't wait for the Sunday paper to look for things to cut out.
He has 3 of these huge sheets of paper in his room now, and I finally bought him and spiral "collage" book with blank paper so all of his treasures could be carried around in one book.

Month 2: Courage

As a family, we have been trying to focus on a "value" every month.  We talk about that value the whole month, role play, talk of people who show this value in their actions, etc...
October's value is Courage!  So we talked about what courage is and talked about what we can do to show courage AND our scripture story for the week to help remind us of Courage is Daniel and the Lion's Den.  Even though a law was passed to prohibit people from praying,  Daniel showed courage by praying anyway because he knew it was right.  Then, of course, he showed courage in the lion's den too.  We acted it out and the boys had lots of fun.  Courage month, here we come!!

LOOK HOW COURAGEOUS MY BOYS ARE...
